About

I'm a wine writer and author, educator and consultant wine maker. I present tutored tasting and masterclasses.

No doubt, wearing so many hats helps me see the wine world from all perspectives. Although I often write from a technical perspective, I believe that fine wine is as much art as it is science. I travel the wine world extensively, gaining and imparting knowledge at every opportunity. My presentations are highly informative, but always fun.

My latest book is 'Wine Faults and Flaws - a Practical Guide'. My previous book 'Wine Production and Quality' (co-author Hazel Tattersall) won the Gourmand Award for the Best Wine Book in the World for Professionals in 25 Years. I'm a founder member of the Association of Wine Educators and member of the Circle of Wine Writers.

What don't I do?

I don't sell wine. I don't take money to be a so-called influencer or for my blogs. I don't write shopping lists. I don't believe I can be totally objective in my opinions: objectivity does not exist!

We are all influenced by our history, education, culture. I don't tell people 'this is too complicated for you to understand.' Other than in an informal way, I do not offer advice on marketing or promotion. I don't think I know everything.
